Our Story

Established in 1993, Shoreline Business Machines is a locally owned and operated IT services organization. We provide leading edge products and services to our customers throughout Nova Scotia.

Shoreline was derived from employees of a national Montreal-based company, affiliated for many years with IBM and a Canadian leader in the 60s, 70s and 80s in the office typewriter field. The national company was eventually sold by its founder, struggling through a succession of multiple owners both private and corporate before its eventual closing down in most areas across the country.

In 1993, three members of the Dartmouth branch – Betty Fraser, Darrell Creelman and President Ben Mclean – created Shoreline Business Machines Ltd. Eventually Ben left to pursue teaching and IT work in Nunavut, leaving Darrel Creelman to step in as President with partners Betty Fraser and David Moulton. This small determined group continued serving many of the same clients as they had before, building the business on a foundation of great customer support.

In 2001, Shoreline acquired Harbour City Business Products, extending their existing lines and offering their clients a greater range of products and services. This also brought new members to the team, and helped strengthen their position as a one-stop shop for complete office solutions.

Today, our company now known as SBM TECH, led by partners Betty Fraser and Tony Tracey along with a growing team of business professionals who have worked in the industry for well over 30 years, offer clients the unique advantage of dealing with one source for the majority of office solutions. We offer our customers a range of products and services including complete IT sales and support, Managed Services, networking, professional digital dictation/transcription, Court, interview and audio recording products, shredders, printers and faxes, point of sale equipment, and office equipment and supplies.
